Jacques Berthier was a French actor and voice artist born on February 10, 1916, in Paris, France. He began his career in the early 1940s, appearing in films and on stage, often portraying aristocratic or military figures due to his distinguished appearance. In addition to his on-screen work, Berthier also directed the 1961 feature film Quai Notre-Dame.

However, he became widely recognized for his extensive work in dubbing, providing the French voices for numerous prominent Hollywood actors. His dubbing credits included Raymond Burr in the Ironside television series, as well as Gregory Peck, David Niven, Stewart Granger, and George Sanders in various films. This voice work extended into animation, where he took on several notable roles. He was the voice of the villainous Captain Monastario in the French dub of the Disney Zorro television series and voiced the character Vega, the Grand Strategist, in the classic anime series Goldorak.

Later in his career, Berthier continued to work in anime dubbing. He provided the voice for the character Shogun in the series Heat Guy J. His other voice roles in animation included the Emperor Ming in The Defenders of the Earth, the Generalissime Olban in Daimos, and the narrator for the French adaptation of The Lord of the Rings. He was married to French actress Lily Baron, also a voice artist. Jacques Berthier passed away on April 2, 2008, in Neuilly-sur-Seine, France.
