Rolf Mamero

Description
Rolf Mamero was a German actor and voice actor, born on September 27, 1914, in Lübeck. He began his stage career in Kassel and, after the war, moved to Hamburg, where he spent many years performing at various theaters, including the Hamburg State Opera. Mamero was also one of the first radio announcers for the NWDR and, from 1956, provided voiceovers for the UFA newsreel.

Mamero became particularly well-known for his distinctively soft voice, which he lent to countless audio dramas and dubbing roles. His work in audio dramas was extensive, with appearances in over 55 productions across numerous popular series. He was a familiar voice in German children's records and cassettes from the 1970s onward, playing various characters in series such as Die drei Fragezeichen, Hui Buh, Tom und Jerry, Fünf Freunde, Hanni und Nanni, and TKKG. He also narrated the film Der Schatz im Silbersee in 1962.

As a dubbing actor, Mamero provided the German voice for many international actors in films and television. He often lent his voice to British actors in roles such as inspectors and other dignified characters. Among the actors he dubbed were Stanley Baker, Andrew Keir, Patrick McGoohan, Darren McGavin, Leslie Phillips, Michael Rennie, and Vincent Price. A notable role in anime dubbing was for the character Ban in the German version of the 1980 film Space Firebird 2772 (Phoenix 2772), which was produced in Hamburg in 1982. His dubbing work also included characters in series like The F.B.I. and Bonanza.

Beyond his voice work, Mamero also appeared on screen in various television productions. His credits include John Walker schreibt seiner Mutter (1954), Unter den Dächern von St. Pauli (1970), episodes of the crime series Tatort in 1972 and 1982, and Die Schwarzwaldklinik. Rolf Mamero passed away in 1988 in Hamburg at the age of 73.
