Friederike Aust is a German actress and voice actor, born Friederike Sturm on January 10, 1943, in Görlitz, Germany. She began her career after studying at the Academy for Film and Television in Potsdam-Babelsberg, initially working in theatre at the Gerhart-Hauptmann-Theater in Görlitz-Zittau from 1963 to 1967. Her on-screen debut followed in 1964 with the DEFA film Alaskafüchse. In 1967, she moved to Berlin to work more extensively for the German Television Broadcasting service, DEFA, and radio. Over the following decades, she became a familiar face in East German cinema and television, appearing in numerous productions, including several episodes of the popular crime series Polizeiruf 110 and the television series Der Staatsanwalt hat das Wort.

Alongside her on-screen work, Aust built a substantial career as a voice actor, lending her voice to a wide array of characters in German-dubbed versions of international films and television series. Her voice can be heard in over one hundred productions. While a significant portion of her dubbing work was for live-action content, it also includes voice roles in animated and anime series. A notable example is the anime series Kaiketsu Zorro, known in German as Z wie Zorro, where she provided the German voice for the character Caterina Prideaux. Another instance of her work in animated series is her role as the voice of the announcer in the German dub of the classic anime The Mysterious Cities of Gold.

Throughout her extensive dubbing career, Aust has been the German voice for many prominent international actresses. These include Barbra Streisand in The Way We Were, Gina Lollobrigida, Jana Brejchová, and Carmen Sevilla, among numerous others. Her work also spanned across many popular television series, where she voiced characters in shows such as ER, Frasier, Perry Mason, and Lou Grant. In addition to film and television, Aust was active in radio dramas, working frequently with director Peter Groeger on several productions for the radio of the German Democratic Republic and later for other German broadcasters.
