Chad Cline

Description
Chad Cline is an American actor and voice actor known for his work in anime dubbing, particularly for Funimation productions. His career in voice acting began in 1999 with the English adaptation of the anime series Blue Gender, where he provided the voice for the character Scott. This initial role led to further work in the anime industry throughout the early 2000s, including providing additional voices for the English dub of the popular series Dragon Ball GT.

Cline is perhaps most recognized by anime fans for his involvement in two different adaptations of the Fruits Basket series. In the 2001 anime adaptation, he voiced the complex and pivotal character Akito Sohma. Years later, when a new anime adaptation was produced, Cline returned to the franchise for its final season, Fruits Basket the Final, which aired in 2021. In this new adaptation, he took on the role of Akira Sohma, the father of Akito. This casting created a unique connection for Cline to the franchise, having voiced both a character and that character's parent across different adaptations.

Beyond Fruits Basket, his anime voice acting credits are extensive and feature roles in several long-running and popular series. He has contributed voices to One Piece, the Lupin III franchise, and the anime adaptation of the historical parody Hetalia, where he voiced the character of Romania. His filmography also includes titles such as Case Closed, BECK: Mongolian Chop Squad, Burst Angel, Gunslinger Girl, Speed Grapher, and Spiral. His work is not limited to anime; he has also lent his voice to the video game series Brothers in Arms and Borderlands 3.

Throughout his career, Cline has been a consistent presence within the community of voice actors based in Texas, frequently collaborating with a core group of industry peers. Records indicate recurring collaborations with voice actors such as Christopher Sabat, Kyle Hebert, Eric Vale, Laura Bailey, and Mike McFarland, among others. His performance career also extends to on-screen roles and, notably, improvisational theatre. He has studied at The Groundlings school in Los Angeles, performed with the acclaimed comedy troupe Esther's Follies in Austin, and has over 25 years of experience teaching and performing improv. He has been represented by The Mary Collins Agency since 2000.
