Björn Berg

Description
Björn Berg was a Swedish illustrator and painter, active from the mid-20th century until his death in 2008. His most internationally recognized work came through his long-term collaboration with Norwegian author Alf Prøysen on the children's book series featuring the character Mrs. Pepperpot, known in Norwegian as Teskjekjerringa. Berg provided the illustrations for the original books, which first appeared in 1956 and became beloved for their whimsical depiction of an elderly woman who could shrink to a tiny size.

The enduring popularity of these illustrated stories led to various adaptations, including a Japanese anime television series titled Mrs. Pepper Pot, produced by Studio Pierrot and broadcast from 1983 to 1984. In the context of this anime adaptation, Björn Berg is credited as the original illustrator whose visual interpretation of the characters and setting informed the foundational aesthetic of the series. His artistic identity is thus tied to the literary and illustrative tradition of mid-century Scandinavian children's literature, rather than to the direct creation of manga or the production of anime as a screenwriter or director.
