Woods was born in Cleveland, Ohio, and her family relocated to Montreal, Quebec, when she was twelve years old. She is a graduate of the National Theatre School of Canada and spent her twenties performing in Canadian regional theatre. A notable stage credit from this period was playing Rebecca in James Reaney's The Killdeer at Ottawa's National Arts Centre. She later settled in Montreal, where she completed a Bachelor of Fine Arts degree in Integrative Music Studies at Concordia University. Before fully establishing her voice acting career, she sang for two years with the Montreal Jubilation Gospel Choir.

Her voice acting career is extensive, with a significant focus on dubbing anime and other international productions for English-speaking audiences.
