Eric Chevalier

Description
Eric Chevalier is a French actor, director, and sound engineer, widely recognized for his extensive work in the dubbing of animated series and films, particularly anime, into French. His career in performance began in the theatre, with credits dating back to the early 1960s, and he has maintained a parallel career as a sculptor and painter.

Chevalier's voice is prominently featured in the French adaptations of numerous anime series from the 1980s onward. He is notably the French voice of the character Robert in the 1985 anime series Sablotin (known in Japanese as Onegai! Samia Don), an adaptation of E. Nesbit's novel Five Children and It. In this series, he also voiced the character Henri.

Among his most prominent and enduring roles is that of Lloyd Asplund (also referred to as Lloyd Pudding) in the globally popular anime series Code Geass: Lelouch of the Rebellion and its sequel, Code Geass R2. He reprised this role years later for the 2019 film Code Geass: Lelouch of the Re;surrection. Another significant role is Stique Valentine in the French dub of the animated series Doug and its subsequent film adaptation, Doug's 1st Movie.

His filmography in voice work is extensive and includes a wide array of characters across many series. He voiced Riquet in Pluche, Riquet, Pat and Itsuki in the first two stages of Initial D. He provided the voice for Akito Soma in the 2001 Fruits Basket series, Nagi Homura in My-HiME, and Karim Taylor in the classic series Attack No. 1 (Les Attaquantes). Other notable roles include Budhora and Majitani in the 1999 Hunter x Hunter series, Gontrand in Malicieuse Kiki, and various voices in Shaman King.

Chevalier's work in the dubbing industry has led to recurring collaborations with specific studios and on long-running projects. He has voiced multiple characters in series adapted by the same French dubbing studios, particularly for adaptations of works from studios like Tokyo Movie Shinsha, the producer of Sablotin. His involvement across different series based on the works of author Leiji Matsumoto, such as Cosmowarrior Zero, Gun Frontier, and Harlock Saga, also represents a notable pattern in his career.

Beyond his on-screen voice roles, Eric Chevalier has made significant contributions behind the scenes in the audiovisual industry. He has worked extensively as a director of dubbing (directeur artistique), overseeing the French adaptations for series such as Neo Ranga and Corto Maltese: La Cour Secrète des Arcanes. He is also a seasoned sound engineer and composer, with credits for mixing and sound on numerous films, including the acclaimed animated feature Persepolis in 2007.
