Nadine Delanoë

Description
Nadine Delanoë is a French voice actress, adapter, and artistic director, born on November 21, 1950, in Avignon, France. She is recognized for her extensive contributions to the French dubbing industry, particularly for her voice work in animated series and her later career as an adapter.

Delanoë initially pursued a career as a singer, leaving Avignon for Paris at the age of sixteen. However, influenced by the social events of May 1968, she turned to theatre and enrolled at the Conservatoire national supérieur d'art dramatique de Paris on the advice of actor Maurice Ronet. After gaining some experience in film and on stage, she began to focus almost exclusively on dubbing in the late 1970s. Her entry into the field came after a successful screen test arranged by dubbing director Pierre Chodolenko.

In 1978, Delanoë was cast as the voice of the title character in the French version of the anime series Maya the Bee. For this role, she was asked to create a voice that was naive and sweet, basing her interpretation on a single drawing of the character and a few lines describing her personality. She also performed the French theme song for the series that same year, a 45-rpm single she sang with Brigitte Winstel. This role would become one of her most iconic, and she later reprised it for the series The New Adventures of Maya the Honeybee. Her work in anime also includes voicing the character Meg in the series Wakakusa Monogatari Yori Wakakusa no Yon Shimai.

Beyond these animated roles, Delanoë has a prolific career dubbing actresses in live-action films and television series. Among her most notable dubbing roles are the voice of Lady Oscar in the anime series of the same name, Purdey (played by Joanna Lumley) in The New Avengers, and Kelly Capwell (played by Robin Wright) in the soap opera Santa Barbara. She also provided the French voice for numerous other characters in productions such as the miniseries North and South and the series Dynasty.

Starting in the 1980s, Delanoë expanded her professional activities to include adaptation and artistic direction. She has adapted the French dialogues for a wide range of popular television series, including the animated series Tiny Toon Adventures, Animaniacs (for which she also adapted all the songs), and Batman: The Animated Series. Her live-action adaptation work includes series such as ER, Mythic Quest, and The Righteous Gemstones. She has also served as artistic director for shows like Providence and various television films. Nadine Delanoë is the mother of Sauvane Delanoë, who also became a voice actress and adapter.
