Deise Celeste

Description
Deise Celeste was the artistic name of Diva Araújo, a Brazilian voice actress whose career spanned several decades from the 1950s to the early 1990s. Her professional journey began in music and radio before transitioning to voice work for film and television. Alongside her sister, Geisa Araújo, she formed the musical duo Irmãs Celeste, recording their first album in 1957. After the duo disbanded following eight LPs, Deise Celeste continued her artistic path as a singer and radio actress, notably at Rádio São Paulo, where she performed in numerous radio dramas throughout the early 1960s.

Deise Celeste entered the field of dubbing around 1968, starting at the studio AIC. There, she lent her voice to various characters in live-action series such as Lancer, Bewitched (A Feiticeira), Land of the Giants, and Lost in Space. Concurrently, she also worked at the Odil Fono Brasil studio, where she was part of the cast for the series As Aeromoças. While her work was extensive in live-action dubbing, her roles in animation were more selective. Notably, she provided the voice for the character Katy in the Portuguese-dubbed version of the anime Hana no Ko Lunlun, known in Brazil as Angel, a Menina das Flores, which stands as a key example of her work in Japanese animation.

Throughout the 1980s, her career included significant work at the Elenco studio within the TVS dubbing nucleus, primarily on films, and at the Álamo studio, where she was active in dubbing Japanese tokusatsu series. Her credits from this period include the villainess Kiki in Esquadrão Relâmpago Changeman and Nefer in Comando Estelar Flashman. By the early 1990s, Deise Celeste retired from voice acting and moved to the coast of São Paulo, where she resided until her passing in 2014.
