Born Arturo Agostí Moreno in Madrid, Spain, on July 3, 1922, he began his acting career in his home country during the 1940s before relocating to Mexico in the following decade. It was in Mexico that he established himself as a versatile performer, appearing in numerous films, often in roles that ranged from romantic leads to astute villains. His on-screen work included notable appearances alongside the legendary comedian Cantinflas in films such as Sube y baja, El analfabeto, and Un Quijote sin mancha. For his performance in the 1955 film La escondida, Agostí received a nomination for the prestigious Ariel Award for Best Supporting Actor.

Parallel to his live-action career, Agostí cultivated an extensive and impactful body of work in voice dubbing.
