Beatrijs Sluyter, born Beatrijs Cornelia Maria Sluijter on July 18, 1954, in Utrecht, is a highly accomplished Dutch voice actress and voice director. Her career in performance began after she graduated from the Academie voor Kleinkunst, and she spent her early years performing in theater with Kindercabaret Potvoordrie and later with Theatergroep Mevrouw Smit. She began doing voice-over work in 1980.
Sluyter is perhaps best known for her extensive work dubbing animated series and films into Dutch. One of her most recognized roles is providing the voice of Cherry in the Dutch version of the anime series Don-Don Domel to Ron, known in the Netherlands as Dommel. This series, which aired from 1988 to 1989, featured her as the voice of the character Cherry, the owner of the large, gentle dog Dommel.
Beyond this role, her voice is featured in a wide array of internationally renowned franchises. She has been a recurring voice for Disney, providing Dutch voices for characters such as Kanga in productions about Winnie the Pooh, Perdita in 101 Dalmatians, and Mrs. Davis in the Toy Story film series. In the world of animation, she is also known as the voice of Rustic Smurf in The Smurfs and Luna the Moon in Bear in the Big Blue House.
A significant and long-standing part of her career has been her work on the Pokémon franchise. Sluyter is the Dutch voice of Delia Ketchum, the mother of the series' protagonist Ash, a role she has voiced for many years across numerous series and films, including Pokémon, Pokémon Advanced, Pokémon Sun & Moon, Pokémon Journeys, and several movies. Her other anime and animated dubbing credits include roles in Ox Tales, Jim Button, Argaï, and various video games, such as the Harry Potter series and Spyro: A Hero's Tail.
In addition to her voice acting, Sluyter also works as a dialogue director for dubbing productions. She has been active in radio and television as a presenter and program maker for broadcasters like AVRO and KRO. Since 1995, she has been the official voice of the Dutch Central Bureau of Driving Licences (CBR). Her expertise is further shared through guest teaching, where she conducts basic workshops in voice acting and workshops focused on animation and dubbing.
