Katsuhiko Nakagawa

Description
Katsuhiko Nakagawa was a Japanese entertainer born in Tokyo on July 20, 1962, who worked as a singer, actor, and voice actor. He was active primarily in the 1980s. He was the grandson of Kazutaka Itō and the father of the multi-talent Shoko Nakagawa. His career in entertainment began after he performed in NHK's Young Music Festival in 1980 while still in high school. He subsequently dropped out of Keio University to pursue his career. On February 22, 1984, he made his debut as a musician by simultaneously releasing his first album and single, Shite Mitai, through Warner Pioneer. Over his career, he released ten singles and nine albums, with two additional albums released after his death.

In voice acting, Nakagawa is primarily known for his role in the 1984 anime series Choriki Robo Galatt. He voiced the lead character, Michael Marsh, a boy whose school-commuting robot is modified by an inventor into the powerful robot Galatt to defend Earth from alien invaders. This role in the Sunrise production was his debut performance as a voice actor, and the series marked the first voice acting role for both him and his co-star Yoshino Takamori. He appeared in all 25 episodes of the series, which originally aired from October 1984 to April 1985.

Beyond voice acting, Nakagawa appeared in television dramas and films. His acting credits include the 1985 Fuji TV adaptation of Toki o Kakeru Shōjo, the 1986 television drama Byakkotai, and films such as Narawareta Gakuen in 1981 and Tenkōsei in 1982. In September 1992, Nakagawa was diagnosed with acute myeloid leukemia. He returned to entertainment after nine months of treatment, but the leukemia relapsed in August 1994. He died on September 17, 1994, at the age of 32.
