Willy Moser

Willy Moser was an Austrian-born Italian actor and voice actor, recognized for his extensive work in dubbing animated series and films for the Italian market. Born in Salzburg on April 2, 1941, he began his career in Italian dialectal theatre, performing in works by Carlo Goldoni as part of the Compagnia di Cesco Baseggio. This experience included appearances in televised productions for RAI.
Moser became a prominent figure in Italian dubbing, founding the dubbing company Mops Film. He provided the Italian voice for numerous iconic characters in Western animation, most notably as the first voice of Shaggy Rogers in Scooby-Doo, Kermit the Frog in the initial dubbing of The Muppet Show, and as a voice for Bugs Bunny during various periods between 1979 and 1990. He was also well-known for giving a French accent to the character Luca Tortuga.
His career in anime was prolific, contributing to many series that were broadcast in Italy during the 1970s and 1980s. Among his many roles, he was the first voice of the boy Gilby in Vicke the Little Viking. He also voiced Dott. Sane in the Star Blazers: The Bolar Wars series, known in Italian as La corazzata Yamato III. Other significant anime roles included Tomas in Candy Candy, Kabutomaru in Robottino, Fan Li in Dino Mech Gaiking, the Gnomo in The Wonderful Adventures of Nils, Dimas in Jacky, l'orso del monte Tallac, and Professor Takomaru in Tondemo Senshi Muteking.
Beyond voice acting, Moser also worked extensively as a dubbing director, overseeing the Italian adaptations for numerous anime series. His credits in this capacity include The Adventures of Pinocchio, The Mysterious Cities of Gold, UFO Robo Grendizer, and The Wonderful Wizard of Oz. Willy Moser passed away in Rome on November 2, 1994, at the age of 53.
