Ángel Ter
Description
Ángel Ter was a Spanish voice actor and radio personality whose career spanned much of the 20th century, leaving a significant mark on Spanish broadcasting and dubbing. He began his professional journey in radio in 1944 at the age of 22, joining Radio Madrid. There, he became a regular voice in the popular children's series "Pototo y Boliche," working alongside other prominent actors of the era. His versatility was a key asset during a time when economic constraints meant a small cast of actors had to cover multiple roles in a single radio play; Ter was adept at providing both character voices and sound effects, such as animal noises.
Beyond radio, Ángel Ter had an extensive career in film, appearing in dozens of movies, and was recognized as an actor whose face was perhaps better known to audiences than his voice. He maintained a long-standing presence in dubbing, frequently taking on character or secondary roles in Spanish-language versions of films and television series. A notable aspect of his dubbing work was providing the Spanish voice for the title character in the beloved animated series "Barbapapa".
Ter's career also included significant work in advertising, where he was the voice for one of the first major mass-media television campaigns in Spain for the brand Calvo. He returned to radio in the 1950s, achieving widespread popularity for his roles in two notable serials: as the voice of the Mexican character Gutiérrez in the western "Hombres Buenos" (1955-1958), and as the cynical friend of the protagonist in the police serial "El criminal nunca gana" (1954-1958).
