Makoto Ataka is a Japanese voice actor and narrator born on June 26, 1956, in Aichi, Japan. His real name is written with the kanji 安宅 誠, and he is affiliated with the talent management firm Aksent. Ataka has been active in the anime industry since the early 1980s, building a career through numerous supporting roles in notable series and original video animations.

One of his earliest and more prominent roles was as Nie Givun in the 1983 science fantasy series Aura Battler Dunbine. In the same year, he also voiced the character Gillman in an episode of the classic comedy series Urusei Yatsura. His work in the 1980s extended to other major productions, including providing the voice for Emil von Reckendorf in the legendary space opera Galactic Heroes in 1988 and voicing Jacob Halm in the sci-fi OVA Megazone 23 III in 1989.

Throughout his career, Ataka has taken on a variety of roles across different genres. He is credited with a voice role in the 1984 series Sei Jūshi Bismark. He also appeared in the 1993 anime Oshare Kozō wa Hanamaru and as late as 2007 in the series Yattokame Tanteidan. In addition to these anime roles, Ataka has worked as a narrator for projects such as Space Battleship Yamato and has lent his voice to the long-running detective series Detective Conan, playing a character named Kengo Katsumata. His filmography reflects a consistent presence in the industry, contributing to a wide range of animated works over several decades.
