Anneliese Fromont

Description
Anneliese Fromont is a French voice actress, primarily known for her extensive work in the dubbing of animated series and films, particularly anime, for the French market. Born in Paris in September 1966, she is the daughter of Pierre Fromont, a well-known figure in French dubbing who served as the voice director on numerous series. She began her dubbing career at the age of 20, guided by her father, and continued her studies in parallel at her parents' insistence. After completing her formal education at 22, she was able to fully dedicate herself to her passion for acting.

Fromont's career is marked by a significant number of major voice roles in anime during the late 1980s and early 1990s, a period often referred to as the golden age of anime on French television. She was a prominent voice on channels like La Cinq. Her roles included multiple characters in the classic sports anime Attack No. 1, where she voiced Fanny Fontanelle, Sandrine, and Yvette, among others. She was also the voice of the titular character Rudy Masten in the soccer series Kickers (known in French as But pour Rudy) and Laurie in the same series. In the series Blue Blink, she played the role of Magic. For the series Anime Sanjushi, an adaptation of The Three Musketeers, she lent her voice to Aramis.

In addition to these, Fromont's extensive anime filmography includes a wide array of characters in series such as Captain Tsubasa (known in France as Olive et Tom), where she voiced multiple roles including Sandy Winter, Ted Carter, and Tippy. She also contributed to films by Studio Ghibli, playing Gran Mamare in Ponyo on the Cliff by the Sea and Miki Hokuto in From Up on Poppy Hill. A comprehensive list of her anime work also includes roles in Jeu, Set et Match as Sophie Aretti, Hello! Spank as Anne, Howl's Moving Castle as Sophie's mother, and Tales from Earthsea as a villager.

Beyond animation, Fromont is widely recognized as the official French dubbing voice for actress Kate Winslet, a role she has held since the film Titanic. She is also a regular voice for actresses such as Julie Benz, and has dubbed Sandra Bullock, Charlize Theron, and Penélope Cruz in various live-action films.

Recurring collaborations are a notable feature of her career, particularly with her father, Pierre Fromont, who directed the dubbing for many of the series in which she appeared, including Kickers and various works for Studio Dovidis. This led to her working frequently alongside a stable of other French voice actors like Barbara Tissier, Emmanuel Curtil, and Joëlle Guigui.

In addition to her work as a voice actress, Anneliese Fromont has also worked as a voice director, finding it to be an enjoyable extension of her craft. She has expressed a high level of personal expectation for her performances and a particular interest in the works of director Hayao Miyazaki. She is sometimes credited under the name Anneliese de Vitis.
