Taeko Ikeda

Description
Taeko Ikeda is a Japanese manga artist known for her work in shoujo manga, the creator of the original story for the anime series Ai to Yūki no Pig Girl Tonde Būrin. She is female and was born on November 29 in Shizuoka Prefecture, Japan, with her specific birthplace recorded as either Shizuoka City or the town of Yoshida in Haibara District. Her professional career began in 1990 when she made her debut with the short story Equal Romance, published in the New Year issue of Ciao DX magazine.

Ikeda is most recognized for creating Tonde Būrin, a magical girl series that was serialized in Ciao magazine from the October 1994 issue to the August 1995 issue. The series was published in three collected volumes. The story follows a girl who transforms into a superheroine in the form of a pig, a unique premise that blends comedy with traditional magical girl tropes. The series was adapted into a 51-episode television anime that aired from September 1994 to August 1995. The development of the series was simultaneous for the manga and anime. A short work titled Bibide Babide Buurin, published in a 1993 issue of Ciao DX and later collected in the volume Nidaime Nezumi Kozō O-rin Sanjō, is considered a precursor to the later series.

Following Tonde Būrin, Ikeda continued to create manga, primarily for various educational magazines published by Shogakukan aimed at elementary school students. These include Chichin Puipui published in Ciao in 1997, Change the Idol in a 1999 issue of Shogaku Yonensei, Sweet Ichigo Chocolat in a 2003 issue of Shogaku Sannensei, and Lyrical Fantasia in a 2005 issue of Shogaku Sannensei. Later works include Sorairo no Ompu in 2006 and Sorairo no Apron in 2007, both published in Shogaku Yonensei.

In addition to her own creations, Ikeda has worked as the illustrator for manga adaptations of other popular shoujo franchises. From 2006 to 2009, she drew the special edition of Kirarin Revolution, titled Kirarin Revolution Special Hen, which was based on the original story by An Nakahara. This series was published across six volumes under Shogakukan's Tentōmanga Special imprint. She later provided the art for an adaptation of Gokujo!! Mechamote Iinchō, originally by Tomoko Nishimura, published in a 2009 issue of Shogaku Yonensei. These manga were later published in French under the title Kilari Star, with editions released by Glénat between 2013 and 2014. Her body of work places her as a creator whose most significant contribution to anime is the original concept for Tonde Būrin, a series that remains a notable entry in the magical girl genre from the 1990s.
