Ian Finley
Description
Ian Finley is a voice actor known for his work in English-language adaptations of Japanese anime series and films during the 1970s and 1980s. He was part of the pool of talent, often Canadian-based, that contributed to the localization of anime for North American and other English-speaking audiences.
One of his notable roles is providing the voice for the character Nick in the English version of the 1980s anime series Adventures of the Little Koala. In this series, which follows the adventures of a young koala named Roobear and his friends in an Australian village, Finley voiced Nick, a penguin who is the twin brother of another character, Pamie.
Finley also voiced the role of the Prince in the English-language adaptation of the anime film Hans Christian Andersen's The Little Mermaid. This film, originally released in Japan in 1974 with the title Ningyo hime, was produced by Toei Doga and later adapted for an English-speaking audience under the direction of Tim Reid. In this version, Finley's Prince is the human object of the mermaid Marina's affection.
