Haruo Chikada

Description
Haruo Chikada is a Japanese musician, composer, music producer, and critic who has also worked as a voice actor. Born in Tokyo on February 25, 1951, Chikada began his career as a keyboardist while a student at Keio University. He is widely recognized for his extensive and influential work in the Japanese music industry, forming numerous bands such as Haruophone in 1972 and later establishing the hip-hop label BPM in 1986. His career also encompasses music criticism, radio personality work, and academia, having served as a professor at Kyoto Seika University.

Within the realm of voice acting, Chikada is known for taking on the lead role in the anime film Furiten-kun, where he voiced the character Furiten Kanda. His involvement in this project is a notable example of his跨界 (crossover) activities into different media during the late 1970s and early 1980s, a period in which he was also active as a television personality and radio DJ. Additional voice acting credits include participation in a spoken-word or comedy segment on the 1980 album Toshi = 田原俊彦 by Toshihiko Tahara, where he is listed among the voice actors. While primarily known for his musical endeavors, these roles highlight his occasional forays into voice performance as part of a diverse career in Japanese entertainment.
