Ruggero Valli

Ruggero Valli is an Italian voice actor known for his work dubbing foreign films and animated features into Italian. He began his voice acting career at the age of five, starting with the role of Brent Kinsman in the film Cheaper by the Dozen and its 2006 sequel. He comes from a family deeply involved in the dubbing industry; his father is the voice actor Carlo Valli, his mother is Cristina Giachero, and his younger brother, Arturo Valli, is also a voice actor.
Valli is primarily recognized for providing the Italian voice for child characters in live-action films and for his roles in animated productions. Among his most notable performances in animation is the character of Sosuke in the Italian-language version of the Studio Ghibli film Ponyo on the Cliff by the Sea, directed by Hayao Miyazaki. Released in Italy in 2009, this film featured Valli in the leading role of the young boy who befriends the goldfish princess Ponyo, voiced by Agnese Marteddu. His work in this film, along with others from Studio Ghibli, was done under the dubbing direction of Gualtiero Cannarsi. Another significant role in animation was as Nonaka in the Italian dubbing of the Studio Ghibli film My Neighbors the Yamadas, directed by Isao Takahata. This Italian version was produced in 2016, years after the film's original release.
