Gilberto Rocha was a Brazilian actor, voice actor, and narrator, recognized as one of the foundational voices in the dubbing industry in São Paulo during the late 20th century. He was born in São Paulo in 1949 and passed away in 2002. His career in radio and as an actor began in 1962, and he started working as a locutor and narrator in 1967. Rocha entered the field of dubbing in 1972, initially at the studio AIC, which later became the renowned BKS studio in 1975. He became closely associated with BKS, serving as its primary locutor, or staff announcer, throughout the 1990s and until his death in 2002.

His voice became familiar to Brazilian audiences through numerous narrations and voice roles in animated series and films. In anime, he is notably remembered for his role as Lakshmana in the feature film Ramayana: The Legend of Prince Rama, in a dub produced by the BKS studio. His other significant contributions to anime include voicing Spopovich in the enduringly popular series Dragon Ball Z and providing the voice for the antagonist Balrog in Street Fighter II V. He also had a substantial presence in the dubbing of the series Samurai X (Rurouni Kenshin), where he voiced numerous characters including the antagonist Jin-e Udo, as well as various narrations.

Beyond anime, Rocha's career was marked by a wide range of roles in Western animation and live-action productions. He was the voice of the Phantom in the animated series Defenders of the Earth and voiced the title character in Beethoven, the Animated Series. In live-action, he provided the Brazilian voice for actors such as James Earl Jones in the film Clear and Present Danger and Ernie Hudson in Congo. His deep, authoritative voice also made him a frequent choice for narrations and locuções in movie trailers, television series, and studio presentations, becoming the signature sound of BKS for many years. His legacy in Brazilian dubbing is carried on by his son, Gilberto Rocha Júnior, who is also a prominent voice actor and narrator.
