Nozomi Tsuji
Description
Nozomi Tsuji is a Japanese entertainer and voice actor who began her career as an idol. Born in Tokyo on June 17, 1987, she first gained national prominence in 2000 when, at the age of twelve, she was selected as a member of the fourth generation of the popular J-pop group Morning Musume. During her time with Morning Musume, Tsuji became a founding member of the immensely popular subgroup Mini Moni, which was formed under the concept that all members be under 150 cm tall. It was through this subgroup that she received her initial experience in voice acting, as the members of Mini Moni provided their own voices for anime adaptations related to the group. Tsuji voiced a fictionalized version of herself, often referred to as Nono, in the short-form anime series Mini Moni Yaru no da Pyon!. She also voiced the Minihams character, a hamster representation of Nono, in the first three Hamtaro movies released in the early 2000s.
After graduating from Morning Musume and Mini Moni in 2004, Tsuji continued her career in entertainment. In 2007, she took on a leading role in the children's anime series Robby & Kerobby, providing the voice for the character Athena. This role was closely tied to her music career, as she performed the series' first opening theme song, Koko ni Iruzee!, under the stage name Athena. Her tenure as Athena was interrupted due to a sudden maternity leave, and the role was subsequently taken over by her former Morning Musume colleague, Risa Niigaki, starting from the sixteenth episode.
Tsuji continued to take on voice roles in subsequent years. In 2010, she voiced the character Nashimoto Nonomi in the long-running and popular anime series Inazuma Eleven, a character whose appearance and name were inspired by Tsuji herself. She also lent her voice to the character Kyaru in the 2011 special Pink no Bulldog ~Utau WAN WAN~. Her voice acting work extended to animated films as well, including a role as Maar in the 2007 film Chou Gekijouban Keroro Gunsou 2: Shinkai no Princess de Arimasu!. In 2012, she voiced the frog-like robot character Enetan in the live-action superhero film Tokumei Sentai Go-Busters the Movie: Protect the Tokyo Enetower!. Throughout her career, Tsuji's work as a voice actor has often intersected with her identity as a public figure and former idol, bringing recognition to her roles.
