Masahito Tanaka

Masahito Tanaka, also known by the name Shōjin Tanaka, is a Japanese manga writer and artist. He was born in Chūō, Japan. After graduating from high school in 1973, he moved to Tokyo and became a student of the influential manga artist Go Nagai, the creator of famous series such as Mazinger Z, Cutie Honey, and Devilman.
Tanaka is best known for having co-created the work Shibuya Honky Tonk alongside Joji Abe. This manga was adapted into an original video animation in 1988. His other known manga titles include Gokutsuma Yūkyōden, Metal Soul, Maniacs 21, Metal Boy, Astra, and Good Girl. His body of work includes series across genres such as science fiction and educational biographies. While details of his later career are not widely documented, his early work and connection to Go Nagai place him within a notable lineage of post-war Japanese manga creators.
