Tadaaki Kikuchi

Description
Tadaaki Kikuchi, also known by his pen name Tatsuhiko Dan, was a Japanese novelist and writer active in the anime and manga industry. He was born in Fukushima Prefecture on January 26, 1949, and passed away in June 2005. Kikuchi worked under the pen name Tatsuhiko Dan for most of his professional career, with his real name being less commonly used in credits.

Kikuchi joined the creative company Dynamic Productions in 1972, an organization closely associated with manga artist Go Nagai. He made his debut as a novelist in 1984 with a novelization of God Mazinger, a mecha series originally created by Nagai. He continued to write several novel adaptations of Go Nagai's popular properties, including Cutey Honey and Violence Jack.

Among his original creations is The Gakuen Chōjo-tai, which was adapted into an anime original video animation (OVA) in 1991. The OVA was directed by Satoshi Dezaki and produced by the animation studio Magic Bus, with Kikuchi receiving credit as the original creator of the work.

Beyond his novelizations and original stories, Kikuchi contributed to the industry in other capacities. He provided planning assistance for the television series Devilman Lady, which aired from 1998 to 1999. He also received planning credits for the mecha anime series Groizer X and Shin Getter Robo. Later in his career, he worked as the writer for the Mazinkaiser manga.

Kikuchi's significance lies in his role as a novelist who bridged manga and anime, particularly within the ecosystem of Dynamic Productions. He adapted iconic manga into prose format and developed original stories that were subsequently adapted into anime, contributing to the expansion of franchises central to the mecha and action genres.
