Maiko Hashimoto

Description
Maiko Hashimoto is a Japanese former voice actress and singer active in the late 1980s. She was born on November 27, 1968, in Yokkaichi, Mie Prefecture. Hashimoto is primarily known for her lead roles in two major anime productions of that era.

Her debut and most prominent voice role came in 1987 when she was cast as Reika Chang, one of the main characters in the influential cyberpunk original video animation series Bubblegum Crisis. Following this, she voiced the title character in the 1989 television anime series Legendary Idol Eriko, which ran for 51 episodes. Hashimoto's involvement in the Leina: Wolf Sword Legend series was two-fold. She provided the voice for the character Rall in the 1988 original video animation. In addition to her voice work, she also contributed musically to the series, performing the second opening theme song Maboroshi no Machi, the ending theme Eien no Lullaby, and the insert song Ai no Senshi.

In addition to acting, Hashimoto was also a singer, performing theme songs and character image songs for the series in which she starred. This included vocal performances for Bubblegum Crisis and Leina: Wolf Sword Legend. Her work in these key productions led to recurring collaborations with several other voice actors of the period, including Yuko Mizutani, Yoshiko Sakakibara, and Yoshino Takamori, who appeared alongside her in both Bubblegum Crisis and Legendary Idol Eriko.
