Akira Negishi

Akira Negishi is a Japanese voice actor and narrator affiliated with the agency Sigma Seven. He was born on April 24, 1959, in Gunma Prefecture, Japan. His career includes work in anime television series, original video animations, and video games, as well as extensive voice work for non-anime television programs.

In anime, Negishi is known for several supporting roles. He provided the voice for Shu Zoldark in the 1999 television anime Masō Kishin. One of his notable roles is Samon Takamizawa, the chef and owner of the Trattoria Samon restaurant, in the 2006 anime series Brighter than the Dawning Blue: Crescent Love. He also contributed his voice to the 1989 series Jungle Emperor (also known as Kimba the White Lion) and Ranma ½: Nettō-hen.

Beyond television animation, Negishi's career includes voice work in original video animations (OVA) and video games. An early OVA role was in the 1986 release Butsuten Monogatari. He voiced characters in the games JoJo's Bizarre Adventure: Golden Whirlwind, playing roles including Illuso, Jean Pierre Polnareff, and Risotto Nero, and in Spriggan Lunar Verse, where he played Graham Burudon.

A significant portion of Negishi's professional work is as a narrator for television programs. He has provided narration for numerous shows across major Japanese broadcasters, including segments for Super J Channel on TV Asahi and various specials and variety programs for the same network. His narration work also extends to other media, such as audio guides for museum exhibitions and voiceovers for television shopping channels.
