Yoshiyuki Morishita

Description
Yoshiyuki Morishita is a Japanese actor whose primary career is in live-action film and television, with a small number of credits in anime voice acting. Born on December 4, 1962, in Tokyo, Japan, he has built an extensive filmography spanning several decades, appearing in over one hundred films since the mid-1990s. His live-action work includes roles in internationally recognized films such as Kill Bill: Vol. 1 and Kill Bill: Vol. 2, as well as in Sonatine, Zatoichi, and Ichi the Killer. He is also known for his frequent collaborations with directors like Takashi Miike, Kiyoshi Kurosawa, and Katsuhito Ishii. His most recent film appearance is in the 2024 horror film Cloud.

Morishita's contributions to anime voice acting are limited but notable for their connection to a specific creative team. He voiced the character Shinkai, an engineer, in the 2003 original video animation (OVA) Trava: Fist Planet. This four-part OVA was directed by Takeshi Koike and Katsuhito Ishii, the latter of whom Morishita had worked with on several live-action projects. This voice role is his most significant in animation, with the character being central to the story.

He reprised the role of Shinkai in the 2009 feature-length anime film Redline. Redline, also directed by Takeshi Koike, is set in the same universe as Trava: Fist Planet, and Morishita's character appears as one of the many racers competing in the titular high-stakes event. The film features a high-profile cast that also includes live-action actors like Takuya Kimura and Aoi Yu in voice roles. Aside from these two interconnected projects, Morishita's other voice acting credits are sparse and include minor roles in the 2001 short film Piroppo and the 2007 live-action and anime hybrid film Hokuro Kyodai: Full Throttle!!!!. While he has a handful of other voice credits, the roles of Shinkai in Trava: Fist Planet and Redline stand as his most prominent and recognizable work in the medium of animation.
