Jon van Eerd is a Dutch actor, voice actor, singer, and writer, widely recognized for his extensive work in theater and his contributions to the Dutch-language dubbing of numerous animated films and series. He was born Johannes Martinus Petrus Henricus Elisabeth Coleta van Eerd in Maastricht, Netherlands, on September 5, 1960. He studied English language and literature at Leiden University before transferring to the University of Amsterdam, where he graduated cum laude in Theatre Studies in 1989. His performance career began in the United States and England, and in 1982 he won the international FEATS award for best male actor.

While van Eerd is a prominent figure in Dutch theater, known for his roles in musicals such as Mamma Mia!, La Cage aux Folles, and his own comedy series as the character Harrie Vermeulen, he has also built an extensive career as a voice actor. He is particularly well-known to audiences for his work in the Dutch versions of popular anime and animated franchises. A significant and long-running role was providing the voice of Professor Oak in the Pokémon series, a part he played from 1999 to 2007. He also voiced the Pokédex, known as Dexter, in the same franchise, including in the films Pikachu's Summer Vacation and The Mastermind of Mirage Pokémon.

Beyond Pokémon, van Eerd's voice acting portfolio is extensive. He is the official Dutch voice of Puss in Boots from the Shrek franchise, voicing the character in all main films and specials. He also voiced Gru in the Despicable Me films and the Minions movie. His other notable voice roles include Vinnie in Biker Mice from Mars, Arthur Weasley in the Harry Potter film series, Simba in The Lion King II: Simba's Pride, and characters in numerous Disney films such as Aladdin, Mulan, The Little Mermaid II: Return to the Sea, and Cinderella II: Dreams Come True and Cinderella III: A Twist in Time. He also voiced the villain King Candy in Wreck-It Ralph and has been the Dutch voice of the Narrator in the video game series LittleBigPlanet. In addition to acting, he has also worked as a voice director.

Van Eerd's contributions to Dutch entertainment, both on stage and as a voice artist, have been recognized with numerous awards. He has received multiple John Kraaijkamp Musical Awards, including those for Best Male Leading Role and Best Translation/Adaptation for La Cage aux Folles, and for Best Script for The Addams Family musical. He has also won the Johan Kaartprijs and several Theaterprijs De Blauwe Kei awards for his comedic roles.
