Asumi Nakata is a Japanese voice actress, singer, and former child model from Tokyo, Japan. She was born on April 5, 1988, and is represented by the talent agency Oscar Promotion. Nakata began her career in show business at the age of three, alongside her younger sister. Before focusing on voice acting, she debuted as a singer at the age of nine in 1997 as part of the duo Crybaby with Ayano Shiraishi.
Her first and most prominent voice acting role came in April 2003, when she was cast as the heroine Lucia Nanami in the anime series Mermaid Melody Pichi Pichi Pitch. She reprised this role for its sequel, Mermaid Melody Pichi Pichi Pitch Pure, which aired until 2004. In 2005, she was a guest at the Sixth Manga Fair in Taiwan, where she performed the theme song Legend of Mermaid from the series.
Following this debut, Nakata provided the voice for the character Yusura in the anime series Himawari!, which began broadcasting in April 2006. She continued in the role for the second season, Himawari!!. Her work on this series also extended to related media, including a character vocal album and an internet radio show titled Himawari! no Rajio na no desu. Go-shujin-sama♪.
In addition to her anime work, Nakata has contributed to video game adaptations of her series and appeared in the 2002 film Swan's Song, where she played the role of Kaori Shimura.
