Blaire Restaneo

Description
Blaire Restaneo is an American actress, singer, and songwriter known for her work in theatre and for providing the voice of a key character in a Studio Ghibli film. Born on April 14, 1994, she began her career as a child performer, often working alongside her older sister, Jewel Restaneo. The sisters were involved in musical theatre from a young age, with Blaire playing the role of Molly in the national tour of Annie in 2000 and both sisters later appearing in the Broadway production of Annie Get Your Gun. Her early screen work included a starring role in the short film Confection, for which she won a Best Young Actress Award at the Dublin Film Festival.

Restaneo's most prominent role in animation came in 2007 when she was cast as the voice of Therru in the English-language dubbed version of the Studio Ghibli film Tales from Earthsea. Directed by Goro Miyazaki, the fantasy film featured Restaneo voicing a young, scarred girl who is central to the story's exploration of balance and identity. At the time of her voice work for the film, Restaneo was approximately twelve or thirteen years old, providing the voice for the seventeen-year-old character. The English dub featured a cast that included Timothy Dalton, Mariska Hargitay, and Willem Dafoe.

Beyond this voice role, Restaneo's career has been defined by her creative partnership with her sister. The duo has performed as the electro-pop-rock bands Pixikill and later MUJYBELA, releasing several EPs and singles. They have also worked as directors and editors, creating music videos for their own projects as well as for other artists, including the group Boyz II Men. Her known work in anime voice acting, however, remains primarily defined by her performance in Tales from Earthsea.
