Junko Shimakata is a Japanese voice actress born on August 12, 1967, in Kanagawa Prefecture. She is affiliated with the talent management firm Aoni Production. Shimakata is a graduate of Aoni Production's training school, Aoni Juku, having completed the 9th term of its Tokyo school.

Her motivation to become a voice actor began in childhood after watching the television anime series Candy Candy. She pursued this goal seriously in high school and later honed her skills as a member and leader of her school's drama club. While still a student, she gained early media experience as a radio personality after successfully auditioning for a hosting role, which allowed her to showcase her acting abilities.

Shimakata's career encompasses a wide range of roles in anime, original video animations, and video games. In anime television, she is recognized for her work as Kotengu in the series Haruka: Beyond the Stream of Time – A Tale of the Eight Guardians. Her other notable anime roles include Coco in the 1989 series Dragon Quest, Kiki in Beyblade, and Nane in Remi, Nobody's Girl. She has also had recurring roles in long-running franchises, appearing in various capacities in productions such as Kiteretsu Encyclopedia, Sailor Moon, GeGeGe no Kitaro, and Nintama Rantarō.

In the realm of original video animations, Shimakata has voiced several key characters. She portrayed Mika Kato in the 1995 OVA Graduation, a role she reprised in the related OVA series Sailor Victory and Marriage. Her filmography also includes the role of Yu Yamanami in the 2006 anime series Soul Link.

Shimakata is particularly prolific in video game voice work. She is widely known for providing the voices of the sisters Da Qiao and Xiao Qiao in Koei Tecmo's popular Dynasty Warriors series, beginning with Dynasty Warriors 3 and appearing in numerous subsequent installments.
