Shuichi Oshida is a Japanese creator known for originating the anime and manga franchise Panda-Z: The Robonimation. His name in Japanese is 押田秀一. Oshida is recognized as the original creator of the series and also contributed to its character designs.
Oshida conceived the idea for Panda-Z in 1999. At the time, he was working at a job where he gained access to a Macintosh computer and taught himself to use Adobe Illustrator. After creating the initial designs for a panda-themed robot parody, he left his job to work as a freelancer. A former coworker later informed him that MegaHouse Corporation was seeking character designers. When MegaHouse reviewed Oshida's Panda-Z artwork, the company decided to develop a merchandising line based on the concept. The project moved forward with the full blessing of Go Nagai, the creator of the classic mecha anime Mazinger Z, which Panda-Z directly parodies.
The anime adaptation of Panda-Z, titled Panda-Z: The Robonimation, is Oshida's most notable credited work.
