Yoshio Kaneuchi was a Japanese voice actor born on July 17, 1933, in Tokyo, Japan. He passed away on August 7, 1992.
Kaneuchi's career included a variety of roles in anime films, television series, and original video animations from the 1960s through the early 1990s. One of his notable film roles was providing the voice of President Gibson in the 1982 animated film Future War Year 198X. He also narrated the 1982 sci-fi film Andromeda Stories.
In television, his credits included the role of Dr. Shikishima Daijirou in the 1980 series Messenger of the Sun Ironman #28 and Leslie Christie in Hello! Sandybell from 1981. He also had an early role in the 1963 series Astro Boy, voicing characters such as Blue Knight and Homespun. Later in his career, he narrated the 1992 anime film Romance of the Three Kingdoms: Dawn of Heroes.
Beyond anime, Kaneuchi was also known for his work dubbing foreign films, notably as the Japanese voice of HAL 9000 in the live-action film 2001: A Space Odyssey.
