Marco Antonio Espina

Description
Marco Antonio Espina is a Chilean voice actor recognized for his extensive work in dubbing for animated series, anime, and live-action television and film. His career, which began in radioteatro, has established him as a familiar voice in Latin American dubbing, particularly for his portrayals of villains and authority figures.

Espina's entry into voice acting was guided by his mentor, the prominent writer and actor Juan Marino. He started in radioteatro at Radio Balmaceda, where he developed a preference for playing complex characters, especially villains, a trait that would define much of his later work.

In the realm of anime, Espina is perhaps best known for his long-running role as Katsuhito Masaki across multiple installments of the Tenchi Muyo! franchise. He voiced the character in series such as Tenchi Muyo!, Tenchi Muyo! Ryo-Ohki, Tenchi Universe, and Tenchi in Tokyo. He also took on the role of the villainous Dr. Eggman, known as Dr. Huevo in Spanish, in the first two seasons of Sonic X. As the user example notes, he provided the voice for the character Ned in the series Oban Star-Racers. His other significant anime credits include Professor Agasa in the Chilean dub of Detective Conan, Inspector Arizuka in You're Under Arrest, and Dr. D in Zoids.

Beyond anime, Espina has a prolific career dubbing animated series and films. He is recognized for voicing Avatar Roku in the first seasons of Avatar: The Legend of Aang and reprising the role in The Legend of Korra, as well as voicing Master Pakku in the former series. His work also includes roles in Garfield and Friends as Roy, Trevor Goodchild in Æon Flux, Lugnut in Transformers: Animated, and Mayor Humdinger in the film PAW Patrol: The Movie.

In addition to animation, Espina has an extensive filmography dubbing live-action content. He is notably the Spanish voice of Teal'c, played by Christopher Judge, in the long-running series Stargate SG-1 and its subsequent direct-to-DVD films, Stargate: The Ark of Truth and Stargate: Continuum. He was selected in the United States to be the official Spanish voice for Bill Cosby in his various projects. His other live-action dubbing credits include roles in series such as Orange Is the New Black as Sam Healy, Jessica Jones as Roy Healy, and Manual de supervivencia escolar de Ned as Professor Sweeney.
