Claudia Penoni

Description
Claudia Penoni is an Italian actress, voice actress, and comedian with a career spanning theatre, television, and radio. Born in Revere on August 22, 1962, she began her professional training at the Laboratorio Teatrale di Torino and furthered her skills with a course in film and television dubbing at Videodelta. This training allowed her to begin lending her voice to numerous characters in films, soap operas, and animated series.

In the realm of anime and animated features, Penoni is notably recognized for her work in the 1978 Toei Animation film Pollicina, which is part of the Sekai meisaku dōwa series of world masterwork fairy tales. For its 1994 Italian home video release by Stardust, the dubbing was handled by a Turin-based studio, O.D.S.. In this production, she provided the voice for the title character, Pollicina, as well as the character's mother. It is noted that while Penoni voiced Pollicina, her colleague Lucia Valenti took over for the character's sung parts.

Her broader career in voice acting for animation includes a wide range of roles. Her filmography lists her as the voice of characters such as Biancaneve in Biancaneve, Odelia in La bella addormentata, Lena in La sirenetta, and the queen in La leggenda di Arslan. In television animation, she voiced characters in series like Franklin (Procione, Porcospino, Signora Castoro), Tre gemelle e una strega (Elena, second voice), Il Piccolo orso (Oca), Lola & Virginia (Poppy), and the Italian dubbing of the popular anime Naruto Shippuden, where she voiced Karin Uzumaki. Her voice work also extended to roles in series such as Transformers: The Headmasters and Biker Mice.

Beyond voice acting, Penoni's career is marked by extensive work as a stage and screen actress, particularly in comedy. She gained widespread fame for her participation in the popular Italian comedy show Zelig, both as a solo act with her character Signora Varagnolo and in a duo with Leonardo Manera, performing as Kripstak in the "Polish Cinema" sketches. This comedic vein also led to roles in television sitcoms like Life Bites - Pillole di vita, of which she was a protagonist from 2007 to 2013, and in films such as Cado dalle nubi with Checco Zalone and Box Office 3D - Il film dei film. She has also been active in radio for networks like Rai Radio Due, participating in various programs and satirical news broadcasts.
