Hiroko Moriguchi

Description
Hiroko Moriguchi is a Japanese singer, voice actress, and television personality. She was born on June 13, 1968, in Fukuoka Prefecture, Japan. Her career in the entertainment industry began in the mid-1980s, and she is known for her work as both a vocalist of anime theme songs and a performer on variety programs.

Moriguchi's debut was closely tied to the anime industry. In 1985, she made her recording debut with the song "Ai wo Komete Mizu no Hoshi e," which was used as the second opening theme for the television anime Mobile Suit Zeta Gundam. This opportunity came after she was a finalist in a televised singing competition. Her connection to the Gundam franchise would continue to be a significant part of her career, most notably with the release of "Eternal Wind ~Hohoemi wa Hikaru Kaze no Naka~," the theme song for the 1991 film Mobile Suit Gundam F91, which became her biggest hit.

While she is credited as a voice actress, her most prominent contributions to anime have been through performance of theme music. She sang opening and ending themes for various series and original video animations (OVAs) throughout the late 1980s and beyond. These include the OVA Circuit Angel: Resolving Starting Grid, for which she performed both the opening theme, Generation, and the ending theme, Still Love You. Her other notable anime theme songs include "Samurai Heart" for the series Yoroiden Samurai Troopers and music for the OVA Yawara!.

In addition to her music and voice work, Moriguchi became a familiar face on Japanese television. During the early 1990s, she gained popularity as a "baradoru," a term for a variety show idol, appearing regularly on numerous programs. Her success in this area led to her hosting her own variety show and serving as a host for the long-running music program Pop Jam on NHK. Her achievements in music were recognized with six consecutive appearances on the prestigious NHK Kōhaku Uta Gassen from 1991 to 1996.

Moriguchi has remained active in the entertainment industry. In her later career, she has revisited her anime roots by releasing a series of successful cover albums featuring famous Gundam and anime songs. She also co-hosts Anison Days, a television program dedicated to anime music. Throughout her multifaceted career, Hiroko Moriguchi has established herself as a notable figure whose work bridges the worlds of anime music and mainstream Japanese entertainment.
