Sakae Umezu was a Japanese actor and voice actor born on July 5, 1928, in Asahi, Toyama, Japan. His birth name was Shigeru Umezu. Umezu's career spanned several decades, during which he built a diverse portfolio of work in both anime and live-action productions.

In the realm of anime, he is known for his role in the 1963 feature film Doggie March (Wanwan Chūshingura), where he lent his voice to the character Nukita the Tanuki. This film, produced by Toei Company and directed by Akira Daikubara, was a significant production of its era.

Beyond his voice work in animation, Umezu had an extensive career in live-action television and film. He made appearances in several popular tokusatsu and jidaigeki series. His credits include roles in episodes of the original Kamen Rider series, Kamen Rider X, and Kikaider-01. He also appeared in the live-action film Lone Wolf and Cub: Baby Cart to Hades, part of the acclaimed Lone Wolf and Cub franchise, as well as in the film adaptation of the manga 20th Century Boys.

Sakae Umezu passed away on August 6, 2016, one day after his 88th birthday.
