Chiho Yūki

Description
The name Chiho Yūki is the first professional stage name of the late, highly acclaimed Japanese actress Kirin Kiki. Under this name, she provided the voice for the character Madame Noir in the 1974 animated musical fantasy film Jack and the Beanstalk. This film, produced by Group TAC, featured Kiki in the role of the witch who holds a princess captive in a castle in the sky. Her other anime voice credits from this early period of her career include the role of Yamanba in the 1979 film Taro the Dragon Boy.

The artist eventually sold the rights to the name Chiho Yūki during a television appearance and adopted the stage name Kirin Kiki, under which she would gain widespread recognition and numerous awards for her extensive work in live-action film and television. As Kirin Kiki, she continued to take on occasional voice roles in animation, most notably as the housekeeper Haru in the 2010 Studio Ghibli film The Borrower Arrietty. Her career as a voice actor, both as Chiho Yūki and Kirin Kiki, represents a small but notable facet of her larger legacy as one of Japan's most respected actresses.
