Makoto Ataka

Makoto Ataka is a Japanese voice actor and narrator born on June 26, 1957, in Aichi Prefecture, Japan. He is a graduate of Toho Gakuen School of Music. Ataka is affiliated with the talent management firm Aksent. His career as a voice actor has spanned from the 1970s through to the 2000s.

Ataka's body of work primarily consists of roles in anime television series and original video animations from the 1980s and 1990s. One of his early leading roles was providing the voice for the title character in the 1983 special effects mini-series Andro Melos. In the same year, he voiced the character Nie Givun in the Sunrise fantasy mecha anime Aura Battler Dunbine. He also had a role in the long-running 1981 series Urusei Yatsura.

During the late 1980s, Ataka took on roles in several notable science fiction titles. He voiced Emil von Reckendorf in the seminal space opera adaptation Legend of the Galactic Heroes, which began in 1988. In 1989, he was cast as the character Jacob Halm in the OVA Megazone 23 Part III. His credits from the 1990s include a role in the 1993 anime series Oshare Kozō wa Hanamaru. Later in his career, he appeared in the 2007 television series Yattokame Tanteidan. Additional roles include providing the voice for a character named Kengo Katsumata in Case Closed, also known as Detective Conan.

Throughout his career, Ataka had recurring collaborations with several fellow voice actors. He worked on multiple projects with Mika Doi, Fumie Mizusawa, Toshihiko Seki, and Naoko Matsui.
