Anna Melato

Description
Anna Melato is an Italian actress, singer, and voice actor, born in Milan in 1952. She is the younger sister of the renowned Italian actress Mariangela Melato. Melato began her career in the entertainment industry in the early 1970s, initially as a singer after being signed by the Dischi Ricordi record label. She debuted on television in 1970 and soon after, in 1973, landed her first film role in Lina Wertmüller's "Film d'amore e d'anarchia," for which she also performed songs composed by Nino Rota. Throughout the 1970s, she balanced a music career, participating in major Italian music festivals like Sanremo and Canzonissima and releasing two albums, with a parallel career in film. From the 1980s onward, she became a familiar face in Italian cinema and, increasingly, on television, appearing in numerous series and films.

In addition to her on-screen work, Anna Melato has built a significant career as a voice actor for Italian dubs of international films and television series. Her voice can be heard in Italian versions of major Hollywood films, where she has dubbed actors such as Sissy Spacek in "Nashville," Adriana Barraza in "Babel," and Desreta Jackson in "The Color Purple". She also lent her voice to characters in horror and thriller genres, including roles in "Demons," "Paura nella città dei morti viventi," and "Child's Play 2". Her television dubbing work is extensive, including roles in long-running series such as "Loving" (Quando si ama), "ER," and "Star Trek: Deep Space Nine".

In the realm of animation, Melato is known for her role in the Italian-language dub of the 1988 anime film "Maison Ikkoku: Kanketsuhen" (Maison Ikkoku Last Movie), where she voiced the character Hanae Ichinose. This film, based on the popular manga by Rumiko Takahashi, features a cast of Italian voice actors, with Melato taking on the role of the boisterous and sake-loving landlady of the Maison Ikkoku boarding house. Her performance is part of a long and varied career that spans music, film, television, and voice acting, marking her as a versatile figure in Italian entertainment.
