KENT

Description
KENT is the Japanese manga creator and concept artist known for writing and illustrating the series GAEA-TIMA the Gigantis, which began serialization in Kodansha's Monthly Young Magazine in June 2023. The creator, born on August 20, 1995, originates from Miyagi Prefecture. Before entering the manga industry, KENT worked as a concept artist designing figurines and statues for the company Prime 1 Studio.

KENT's professional manga debut came with the science fiction series COLORLESS, published by Leed in 2019. The work, which ran for seven volumes, is set on a post-apocalyptic Earth where humanity has lost its color and undergone strange mutations. The series was released in English beginning in 2022. The creator cites works such as Trigun and Hellboy as artistic influences.

The creator's longstanding fascination with giant monsters, or kaiju, forms a central pillar of their work. After several unsuccessful attempts to pitch kaiju-themed projects to publishers, the renewed popularity of the genre with films like Pacific Rim and Shin Godzilla helped lead to the greenlight of GAEA-TIMA the Gigantis. The manga follows a seaside town devastated by a giant creature, exploring the complex relationship between humanity and these monsters in the tradition of classic kaiju narratives such as Godzilla.

KENT's artistic background in sculpture and concept design for figures informs the distinctive visual presentation of their manga. The creator has also gained recognition from established figures in the industry, with manga author Tsutomu Nihei recommending COLORLESS upon its release. GAEA-TIMA the Gigantis remains in publication as of 2025, with its English release handled by Kodansha USA.
