Maria Inês

Description
Maria Inês was a Brazilian voice actor, recognized for her extensive work dubbing characters in television series and animated programs from the 1960s through the 1980s. Born Maria Inês Nodial on December 22, 1930, in Porto Alegre, Rio Grande do Sul, she began her career in media as a radio actress in São Paulo.

Her transition to dubbing occurred in 1966 when she was invited to voice the young actor Kurt Russell in an episode of the series Lost in Space. This initial work led to a lasting career in the profession. In the same series, she took over the role of Will Robinson, originally voiced by Magali Sanches, which became one of her most notable performances. Throughout the late 1960s and early 1970s, she was a prolific voice in dubbing studios, providing voices for numerous characters in both live-action series and animated cartoons. Among her many roles in animation, she was the voice of Marine Boy in the series Under Sea Boy Marine, as well as Kimba in Kimba, the White Lion, Bam-Bam in The Flintstones, and Bob Conroy and Dino Boy in their respective segments. Her work also extended to live-action series, where she voiced characters such as Dennis Mitchell in Dennis the Menace and Israel Boone in Daniel Boone.

Maria Inês was active in dubbing, particularly between 1967 and 1972. After this period, she stepped back from regular studio work to teach voice projection for amateur theater, though she continued to take on dubbing roles sporadically throughout the 1970s and 1980s, working with various studios including AIC, BKS, and Elenco. She eventually left the profession in the 1990s. In 2004, she was honored alongside other dubbing colleagues at a DVD launch event for the classic Brazilian dubbing of Lost in Space. Later in the 2000s, she briefly taught a dubbing course but subsequently moved to Recife, Pernambuco, with her son. Maria Inês passed away on May 23, 2019, in Recife.
