Lynda Boyd
Description
Lynda Boyd is a Canadian actress born on January 28, 1965, in Vancouver, British Columbia. While she is widely recognized for her extensive work in live-action television and film, her career also includes a significant body of voice acting, particularly in English-language dubs of anime during the late 1980s and 1990s.
Boyd's entry into voice acting is closely linked to the early days of anime localization in North America. Her debut role in this field was as the voice of Miss Ayumi in the Project A-ko series. She became a recurring presence in the English adaptations of these popular original video animations. In Project A-ko 2: Plot of the Daitokuji Financial Group, she voiced both Miss Ayumi and the character Asa. She continued in these dual roles for the subsequent installments, Project A-ko 3: Cinderella Rhapsody and Project A-ko 4: Final. Her involvement with the franchise concluded with Project A-ko: Uncivil Wars, where she provided the voice for the character Liza.
Beyond the Project A-ko franchise, Boyd lent her voice to a variety of other anime series and films. She had a substantial role in the English adaptation of the classic series Ranma ½, voicing numerous characters including Kaouri, Monlon in the film Ranma ½: Big Trouble in Nekonron, China, and Tamazusa. Her other anime credits include Martha Sowerby in the television series Funky Fables, Elza in Fatal Fury 2: The New Battle, Satin Hammer in the Street Fighter animated series, and roles in The Legend of the Dog Warriors: The Hakkenden and Ogre Slayer. She also provided voices for the American animated series Littlest Pet Shop.
While voice acting formed a key part of her early career, Boyd is perhaps best known for her extensive work as a character actor in live-action productions. Her filmography includes roles in major Hollywood films such as Final Destination 2, She's the Man, The Fast and the Furious: Tokyo Drift, and An Unfinished Life. On television, she has appeared in numerous popular series, including The X-Files, Smallville, and Supernatural, and had starring roles in Canadian series like You, Me and the Kids and the police drama Republic of Doyle, for which she received a Gemini Award nomination for Best Performance by an Actress in a Continuing Leading Dramatic Role. Her diverse talents also extend to the stage, where she has performed in musical productions such as The Rocky Horror Show and Little Shop of Horrors.
