Don Fellows

Description
Don Fellows was an American actor and voice actor known for his work in British and American film and television, who also contributed to English-language dubs of Japanese anime in the 1980s and 1990s. Born in Salt Lake City, Utah in 1922, he served in the United States Merchant Marine during World War II before studying at the University of Wisconsin and later training at the Actors Studio. He moved to London in 1973, where he built an extensive career in theater and on screen, often portraying authoritative American figures.

Fellows' voice acting in anime was part of his broader body of work, which saw him lend his distinct voice to English versions of several Japanese productions. One of his noted roles was as Takeshi Suzaka in the 1985 anime feature film Odin: Photon Sailer Starlight. His other credits in this field include providing voices for the English dubs of Patlabor: The Movie, where he is credited as Jitsuyama, as well as roles in Tokyo Babylon and the film adaptation of X. He also contributed to the English version of the Lupin III special, Goodbye Lady Liberty.

While Fellows had recurring collaborations with many actors and directors in his live-action career, such as Richard Donner and Christopher Reeve in the Superman films, no such pattern of frequent collaboration is documented for his work in anime voice acting. His achievements are primarily recognized within the context of his long and varied acting career, which included prominent roles in major films like Raiders of the Lost Ark and Superman II. His work in anime represents a smaller, specialized facet of his decades-long contribution to the entertainment industry. Fellows continued acting until 2002 and passed away in London in 2007.
