Hiroyuki Nishimoto was a Japanese actor and voice actor born in Tokyo on January 3, 1927. He began his career on the stage, initially performing with the theatre company Bungakuza. In 1963, he co-founded the theatre group Gekidan Kumo, and later joined Theatre Company Subaru in 1976, where he remained active for the rest of his career.

Nishimoto is best known for providing the voice of the beloved character Snufkin in the early anime adaptations of Tove Jansson's Moomin books. He first voiced the role in the 1969 television anime series Moomin and later reprised it for the 1972 sequel series, New Moomin. Beyond his work in anime, Nishimoto was a prolific voice actor in Japanese dubs of foreign films, particularly for Disney. His extensive Disney voice roles included the Mad Hatter in Alice in Wonderland, Alan-a-Dale in Robin Hood, and Owl in the Winnie the Pooh movies. He also had roles in live-action film and television, appearing in productions such as Wagahai wa Neko de Aru (I Am a Cat) and the science fiction horror film Kyūketsuki Gokemidoro (Goke, Body Snatcher from Hell). Hiroyuki Nishimoto passed away on April 19, 2015, at the age of 88.
