John Billingslea is the birth name of the American actor and voice actor professionally known as Beau Billingslea. He is widely recognized for his extensive work in anime dubbing, live-action television, and film.

Before pursuing acting, Billingslea had a distinguished early career. He played football at the University of Connecticut, where he graduated with a degree in political science before attending law school and passing the Connecticut bar. He then served as a captain in the United States Army's Judge Advocate General's Corps. His foray into acting began during his college years, inspired by a stage performance, and he later moved to Los Angeles to pursue it professionally.

Billingslea's voice-over career began with radio commercials before expanding into animation and anime. One of his most iconic and critically acclaimed roles is as the voice of Jet Black in the beloved series Cowboy Bebop. Another significant early anime role was as Oji Tanaka, the protagonist who rediscovers his rock-and-roll past, in The Legend of Black Heaven, where he was credited under his birth name, John Billingslea. He also provided the narration for the series Outlaw Star.

Throughout his prolific career, he has voiced a wide array of characters across numerous popular franchises. These include Ogremon in the Digimon franchise, Homura and the Fourth Raikage, Ay, in Naruto and Naruto: Shippuden, and Ben Jackson in Tiger & Bunny. His work extends to video games, where he is known for roles such as Barret Wallace in Dirge of Cerberus: Final Fantasy VII and Adray Lasbard in Star Ocean: Till the End of Time. He has also lent his distinctive deep voice to numerous narrations for History Channel programs like Modern Marvels and Hero Ships.

Beyond voice acting, Billingslea has maintained a steady career in live-action, with guest appearances in numerous television series such as Hunter, The A-Team, Murphy Brown, JAG, and Castle, as well as films including The Blob, Halloween H20: 20 Years Later, Hannah Montana: The Movie, and Star Trek Into Darkness.
