Alan Velázquez
Description
Alan Fernando Velázquez is a Mexican voice actor, director, and singer with a career spanning over three decades in the Latin American dubbing industry. He was born on March 28, 1985, in the State of Mexico. His entry into the world of dubbing began in the early 1990s; around the age of six, he was recommended to director Adrián Sánchez Fogarty after a studio session, which led to his first major role as Spanky in the second dubbing of the film The Little Rascals. This opportunity launched a prolific career in which he has become known for his versatility across animation, live-action, and anime.
Velázquez has built an extensive filmography, lending his voice to a wide array of characters in anime and animation. While he is not the voice of Haku in the Latin American Spanish dubbing of Spirited Away, his anime roles are numerous and include Kenichi in the film Metropolis, Gowther in The Seven Deadly Sins, and Mitsuki in Naruto. He is also the voice of Gamma 2 in the Dragon Ball Super: Super Hero film, a role he described as a dream come true, given his long-time fandom of the franchise. His work in Western animation is equally prominent, with iconic roles such as the first voice of Billy in The Grim Adventures of Billy & Mandy, Jim Lake Jr. in Trollhunters, SwaySway in Breadwinners, and Luka Couffaine in Miraculous: Tales of Ladybug & Cat Noir. He has also voiced characters in major films, including a young Kovu in The Lion King II: Simba's Pride and Christopher Robin in Winnie the Pooh's Grand Adventure.
Beyond acting, Velázquez has worked as a dubbing director and has expanded his career into other areas of entertainment. He was a host for the Telehit program Mr. Rod alongside Kalimba and participated in the fourth generation of the reality music competition La Academia. He has also worked extensively as a voice actor in video games, with credits in high-profile titles such as The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom, Final Fantasy XVI, and Cyberpunk 2077: Phantom Liberty. His work is part of a family tradition, as his brother Claudio Velázquez and his wife, Betzabé Jara, are also voice actors. Throughout his career, he has been recognized for his ability to bring unique qualities to his characters, such as the distinctive laugh he created for Billy, and for his engaging presence at fan conventions.
