Born Darcy Pedrosa Oliveira on May 24, 1930, in Rio de Janeiro, his artistic career began in theater in 1947 before transitioning to radio, where he became one of the most prominent radio actors of the 1950s, working for influential stations like Rádio Nacional. He entered the nascent field of dubbing in 1958 and worked across various studios, most notably Herbert Richers for two decades. Alongside his artistic pursuits, Pedrosa was also a qualified medical doctor, having studied medicine and worked as a clinician.

In the realm of animation and anime, Pedrosa provided the Portuguese voice for several iconic characters. As specified, he voiced Capitão Henry J. Gloval in the Portuguese dubs of The Super Dimension Fortress Macross and its Western adaptation, Robotech. He was also the second voice of Optimus Prime in the Brazilian version of The Transformers, a role he reprised for The Transformers: The Movie. His filmography also included contributions to the Star Wars saga, where he voiced Uncle Owen in the original dub of A New Hope, Grand Moff Tarkin in the 1997 redub, and Senator Palpatine in The Phantom Menace.

Darcy Pedrosa passed away on May 29, 1999, in Rio de Janeiro at the age of 69. He died the day after a regular work session dubbing Chuck Norris in the series Walker, Texas Ranger.
