Bill Sullivan is an American voice actor and narrator based in Japan, where he has built an extensive career spanning several decades. Originally from Los Angeles, California, he began his professional life in radio, working as a disc jockey and in promotions at commercial stations in Los Angeles, Long Beach, and Portland from the age of nineteen. This early experience was built upon a foundation of vocal training nurtured by his father. He first traveled to Japan in 1991 on a promotional trip for a snowboarding tour and subsequently moved there in 1993. His first job for Japanese television was for the program Yasashii Business Eigo in 1994.
Since relocating, Sullivan has become a ubiquitous presence as a voice talent for Japanese public television, lending his voice to a vast number of news, documentary, and educational programs. His body of work in Japan alone includes well over seven thousand recordings, establishing him as a highly respected and in-demand professional in the industry. He is also the narrator for the long-running television series Journeys in Japan, for which he has voiced nearly two hundred episodes and also appeared on screen as a presenter.
In the realm of anime, Sullivan is known for his work as the narrator.
