Chie Kitagawa is a Japanese voice actress and actress born on December 14, 1933, in Tokyo, Japan. She began her career in the late 1960s, with one of her earliest voice roles being in the 1967 anime series "Princess Knight". Her career has spanned several decades, during which she has contributed her voice to a wide range of anime series, films, and television dramas.
Kitagawa is perhaps best known for her long-running role as the first voice of Mini-Dora, the small robot companion, in the beloved "Doraemon" franchise. She originated the role in the 1979 "Doraemon" TV series and continued in the part for the 1989 short film "Dorami-chan: Mini-Dora SOS!!!". Her other prominent anime film roles include the voice of Taeko's grandmother in the acclaimed Studio Ghibli film "Only Yesterday" (1991) and the voice of Nohara Tsuru, Shinnosuke's grandmother, in the popular "Crayon Shin-chan" film "Crayon Shin-chan: The Storm Called: The Adult Empire Strikes Back" (2001).
In addition to these roles, her extensive television voice work includes the character Mombi in the 1986 anime series "The Wonderful Wizard of Oz".
